Dulce de leche filled pound cake

My husband loves sweet things, sometimes seems like an ant. He loves to taste something sweet with  a coffe on the midlle of the afternoon

Was  a long time  since ai bake a coffee cake or something similart, so,these weekend i started to bake a pound cake using  dulce de leche and improvising  a filling.

I put it in a plastic wrap and wrapped like salami, and took it to the freezer. When  was frozen I pour into the batten and voilá: a filling.

No need to comment that my husband loved. It's the least I can do for him, who lives spoiling me.

I'm sure you will like the idea, I think it should be good with a chocolate bar in the middle, it's just a matter of trying

Ingredients :

  • 1 and a half cup of butter, room temperature
  • 2cups sugar cane
  • 4 eggs
  • 1cup milk
  • 2 tea spoons vanilla extract
  • 2  cups and a half flour
  • 1/2  cup corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 250g thick dulce de leche

Method :

Heat oven to 220 ° C

Place dulce de leche in a plastic film and wrap like a salami.Bring to  the freezer until frozen.

In a large bowl beat butter with sugar, until pale and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, vanilla and milk.

In another bowl sift together  flour, cornstarch, baking powder and salt.

Add the mixture to liquid ingredients and mix until a smooth .

Grease a poun cake mold and line with parchment paper.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and Inserting a toothpick into the center comes out clean

Put the dulce de leche in a pipe bag, fill in the middle of the horizontal extremity. Turn the cake and do the same at the other end

Serves about 6 to 8 slices

I made a swirl dulce de leche pound cake the other day. Although it was delcious the caramel sank to the bottom. I love this method of freezing the caramel and working with it that way.
